“Have Icon, Will Travel: Orthodox Ministry in Harm’s Way”

On Tuesday, April 10th, Fr. Alexander Webster, Chaplain (Col) in the US Army Reserves, regaled the University of Virginia Orthodox Christian Fellowship with tales of his experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq. After giving a picture of the daily life of a military chaplain, Fr. Webster related some of his unique adventures as an Orthodox pastor.

While explaining the duties of a chaplain to his troops and commanders, Fr. Webster also offered a snapshot of his own ideas about how the Orthodox should approach the idea of “justifiable war.” Members of the Orthodox Christian Fellowship, Catholic Student Ministry, and Naval ROTC attended the lecture.
